It was a really detailed and an extremely valuable experience for the students, the expertise on offer gave them an insight into the sort of work they would encounter on a professional film or TV set. The facilitators on the workshop were able to get the best work out of the students, encouraging them to give good performances for the camera and enabling students to put the theory into practice in the second half of the workshop where they got time to make their own version of the script using techniques learnt in the morning session. The workshop has also helped my own understanding of the filming process, so much so that I am planning to edit the footage over the summer, this will give me a great opportunity to understand the process from the inside as it were. Many thanks to all of you for an enjoyable and worthwhile day.
Thanks so much for a wonderful day yesterday both myself, staff and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day. I felt the day was extremely informative and gave us a real insight into all the work that goes into making an episode for TV. I was also astonished about how well you and the team integrated with the pupils and one pupil in yr 12 actually said "they treat us like adults Miss and not kids, its really nice". You worked with them so well and I admire the patience your camera operator and director had as some of the work they were doing was really time consuming. I loved the day and found out some really good information and advice about how to approach acting "drawing it out of them" was something I learnt from yesterday, so thank you.
The Media and Drama students who took part on the Television Drama Workshops found the day thrilling and really worthwhile. I cannot recommend the team more highly and stress how much their knowledge and experience impacted on the pupils over the course of the day. Working with a script, filming and devising their own ideas meant they achieved so much more than is possible in the classroom.
Once again, thank you so much for an extremely productive two days and see you next year!

We recently had a TV Drama workshop with ACT.ED at Ayr College. This has been without doubt one of the highlights of the Semester for our students as Sebastian and Nigel gave our students an insight into the professional world of TV.
Here are some comments from the students:
Thanks for doing the workshop, it was a fantastic opportunity to find out what it is like to work on a TV script. (Heather)
It was a fun day and I learned more than I can describe (Anjam)
Thanks it was an excellent experience (Ryan)
Thank you very much for a great day and a fantastic experience and the advice you gave all of us. (Colin)
It was a brilliant experience to work with people who are in the industry, thank you for the hints and tips. (Andrew)
"I want to do this again" (David)
These are just a few of the comments made by our students. We will most certainly be giving our future students this opportunity.
