| The National Theatre recently piloted a scheme in eight Primary Schools, which was reported on by the Social Science Unit at the Institute of Education. The findings of the report were that:
"Children who participated in the Drama Programmes reported an increased enjoyment in school and they learned to speak more clearly and listen more attentively than the test group of children" it also discovered that "Children gained self esteem and self confidence which are regarded as key in the ability to learn." "Theatre Games" is a video made by professional theatre practitioners who also teach. We demonstrate in this video how to set up and run the workshops. This video has been made in close collaboration with The Channel Theatre Company who have been commissioned by a number of local authorities and NHS trusts to deliver these workshops.
The video also contains an interview with an Area Organiser for The Healthy Schools Initiative who explains the importance of Drama in helping to deliver the aims and objectives of the initiative and a fascinating in depth interview with one of the Country's leading Emotional Literacy Consultants who explains in detail how and why Drama works for children on many different levels.
She is area co-ordinator for Creative Partnerships Kent and is rapidly becoming one of the leading emotional literacy consultants in the country and lectures on a nationwide basis.
